Ghana’s second largest state power generation company, Bui Power Authority (BPA), has completed its synchronisation exercise for the successful transmission of 50 Megawatts solar power onto the West African nation’s national electricity grid.
This will eventually boost electricity supply in the West African nation, especially in the night.
The country’s power transmission company, GRIDCo, about three weeks, began transmitting power from BPA’s 50MW first-ever solar onto the national grid.
GRIDCo began with 22.25MW, but CEO of Bui Power Authority, Mr. Fred Oware confirmed to energynewsafrica.com that GRIDCo has successively transmitted all the 50MW onto the grid.
According to him, the exercise was completed last week.
The 50MW solar power is the first phase of the 250MW solar power project being executed by BPA.
Mr Oware told energynewsafrica.com that the Authority would be adding another 50MW in the next three months.
