The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) is set to finance the assembly and deployment of 200,000 solar home systems (SHS) across West African nation.

The sovereign wealth manager will provide $24 million (₦10 billion) under the “Solar Power Naija” programme.

NSIA will partner with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to deploy the solutions.

The Nigerian Ministry of Power will provide technical and advisory support to NSIA in this process.

The Solar Power Naija program is an initiative of the Federal government that aims to provide energy access to 5 million households, or 25 million Nigerians in rural areas and underserved urban areas.

The program also aims to create about 20,000 manufacturing, assembly, and installation jobs, leading to the deployment of over 500,000 SHS by 2023.
