The Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday warned the U.S. Army against entering the Strait of Hormuz, stating that any attempt to do so would be met with a severe response.
The warning follows an announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump that the U.S. Navy would guide stranded ships through the restricted waterway.
“We warn that any foreign armed forces, especially the aggressive U.S. Army, will be attacked if they attempt to approach or enter the Strait of Hormuz,” said Iran’s main military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, in a statement.
The statement added: “We have repeatedly said that the security of the Strait of Hormuz is in our hands and that the safe passage of vessels must be coordinated with the armed forces.”
