Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, as the Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
He replaces Herbert Krapa who was recently appointed as Minister for State-designate for the Energy Ministry.
The appointment is contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante.
The letter said: “The President of the Republic has nominated Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin (MP.), Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited.”
“Kindly take the necessary steps to give effect to the President’s nomination in accordance with the Companies Act 2019 (Act 992) and the Regulations of the Company.”
Mr Afenyo-Markin is currently the Majority Leader in Parliament
