Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Tuesday swiftly averted a potential fuel tanker explosion after a DAF XF diesel tanker with registration number GC-1084-11 overturned at Nsawam Okanta on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
Firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded to the distress call and promptly applied foam and water to cool the tanker, control the diesel spillage, and secure the area.
Their timely intervention prevented casualties and protected lives and property.
In a post on Facebook, GNFS acknowledged the role played by police officers at the scene in securing the area and preventing fuel siphoning, while the recovery team worked to safely upright and tow the tanker to a secure location, ensuring full restoration of safety.

The GNFS cautioned the public against fuel siphoning, as it constitutes theft and poses extreme risks of fire, explosion, and loss of life.
The GNFS further urged residents and motorists to stay away from accident scenes and allow emergency services to manage such situations professionally.
