The PETROSOL Women Network, an initiative of PETROSOL Platinum Energy Ltd., held its 3rd Women in Leadership Conference on Friday, March 7, 2025.
The event commemorated International Women’s Day and brought together approximately 100 women, including respected female senior business executives from the petroleum downstream industry and other sectors, as well as female staff of PETROSOL.
The conference, themed: “Accelerating Exponential and Sustainable Growth: The Role of an Energized Woman,” focused on the significant role women play in driving lasting, impactful change in their careers and communities. The event provided a platform for exchanging valuable perspectives on overcoming challenges, breaking barriers, and creating sustainable leadership practices for women.
The conference opened with an address from the Chairperson, Mr. Daniel Acheampong, also the Board Chairman of PETROSOL.
He emphasized the importance of cultivating a world where women are not only participants but also leaders, capable of driving exponential and sustainable growth.
“We have to create a world where women do not just participate but lead with vision and drive exponential growth on a sustainable basis,” he stated.
The Keynote Speaker, Mrs. Ivy Apea Owusu, CEO of Cirrus Oil Services Ltd, delivered an inspiring message highlighting the importance of networking and collaboration for sustainable growth.
“Networking and collaboration are very important keys to growing exponentially and sustainably. Build meaningful relationships and surround yourself with people who push you to bring out your best. Step out of your comfort zone, be agile and resilient. You need to be seen to make an impact. The future is ours. Lead with purpose and thrive,” she shared.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. Sheila Addo, Deputy Chief Executive, Technical, at the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), remarked, “Achieving success as a woman in leadership is not without its challenges. Along the journey to the top, obstacles are inevitable.
However, resilience, expertise, and a deep understanding of one’s field are essential qualities that enable women to persevere and sustain their leadership positions.”
She challenged the ladies to dare to be the best at what they do.
The CEO of PETROSOL, Michael Bozumbil, commented, “Here at PETROSOL, we are proud that women can walk into our organization and feel empowered, free to express their views and showcase their talents. We are pleased that this is the culture we’ve cultivated.”
A key feature of the conference was the panel discussion, which covered a wide array of topics, including career progression, overcoming obstacles, breaking barriers, and creating transformative change through leadership.
The panel discussants included Dr. Mrs. Stella Agyenim-Boateng, former Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Services at Volta River Authority (VRA) and currently Vice Chairman of the Public Services Commission; Lawyer Kwame Jantuah, energy policy strategist and CEO of the African Energy Consortium; and Lesley Arthur, CEO of Cubica Energy, a Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Oil Trading Company.
