Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo) increased its profit after tax to GH¢584.46 million ($52,207,235.38) in 2025 from GH¢309.23 million in 2024, Minister for Energy and Green Transition John Abdulai Jinapor said.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Jinapor said GRIDCo transmitted a record 25,860 GWh of electricity in 2025, while recording strong reliability and availability across its transmission network.
The state-owned power transmission company made the disclosures at its 13th Annual General Meeting on Thursday.
Jinapor commended GRIDCo’s board, management and staff for the company’s performance and for their professionalism in restoring power following the Akosombo incident.
He urged GRIDCo to strengthen preventive maintenance, system monitoring, protection coordination and restoration preparedness, while adopting innovative technologies to improve network reliability.
“Every fault must generate lessons, and every identified weakness must lead to corrective action,” Jinapor said.
He said the government would continue to support critical investments, including the Eastern Corridor Transmission Backbone, while strengthening generation capacity and energy security.
“A stronger generation mix must be matched by a resilient transmission network,” he said.
“Our goal is to restore GRIDCo’s position as one of Africa’s most reliable, innovative and financially sustainable transmission utilities and to deliver the dependable electricity service that Ghanaians deserve.”
