Ghana’s power transmission company, GRIDCo, has resolved the ‘system disturbance’ which resulted in power supply cuts in parts of the West African nation, Friday night.
A statement from the Corporate Communications Unit on Saturday explained that there was a Gas supply challenge in the Western Region which led to very low electricity generation in the Aboadze enclave.
To make up for this challenge, GRIDCo said more power was generated in Tema and transmitted through the 161 and 330kV lines that link the East to the West.
However, at 19:03 GMT a transient fault occured leading to the system disturbance.
The statement noted that immediately after the system disturbance, restoration work was started and completed by 21:54hrs GMT same day.
The power transmission company expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to electricity users.
