State-owned Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas) held a one-day training programme on Saturday for selected journalists from the Western and Greater Accra regions at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The programme aimed to deepen journalists’ understanding of the gas industry and the company’s operations and contribution to national development.
Four presentations by company officials covered engineering, health and safety, commercial operations and corporate social responsibility.
Maxwell Kally, General Manager of Engineering and Maintenance, outlined Ghana Gas’ role in the country’s gas industry.
Jaasu Yahaya, Principal Manager for Health, Safety and Environment, discussed the company’s environmental and safety practices.
Sylvester Cudjoe, Senior Manager of Commercial Operations, guided participants through the Cash Waterfall Mechanism (CWM), explaining how revenue is distributed among the various players in the energy value chain.
The Cash Waterfall Mechanism is a framework for distributing revenue from electricity sales among companies across Ghana’s power sector, including fuel suppliers, power generators, transmission utilities and distribution companies.
Alfred Ogbamey, Head of Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), presented the company’s new approach to CSR.
The final training session was a masterclass led by consultant Percy Amoo-Yankey on “Effective Communication, Emotional Intelligence, and AI for Modern Communication”. It provided participants with tools and insights to improve their professional practice.
The programme concluded with a media soirée attended by representatives from various media organisations.
Addressing participants, Ghana Gas’ Chief Executive Officer Judith Adjobah- Blay commended the media for their continued partnership with the company and the wider gas industry. She reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the media.

“Through your work, you influence the national discourse and help shape the policy environment in which governments operate. That is why we consider our relationship with you not merely as one between an organisation and the people who report on it, but as a partnership with professionals whose work contributes to national development,” she said.
Ghana Journalists Association President Albert Dwomfuor thanked Ghana Gas for its continued partnership with and support for the media.
He urged journalists to exercise sound judgement in their work, describing journalism as a calling rather than simply a profession.
