Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has paid a working visit to Tamale in the Northern Region to engage the management of Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) and chiefs following recent unprovoked attacks on some NEDCo staff by youth in Tamale.
The incident compelled NEDCo staff to withdraw field services in Tamale.
According to sources, Minister Jinapor has already met with some chiefs and is yet to meet NEDCo management.
On July 30, 2025, some NEDCo staff were stopped, dragged out, and beaten with clubs and sticks by Tamale youth while driving official vehicles. The vehicles were seized and parked at the Gukpe Naa’s Palace.
